2 US soldiers killed in Afghanistan

Two international service members from the United States were killed Wednesday as a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in eastern Afghanistan,  said a press release issued by the NATO-led troops.

The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in the press release, "two ISAF service members from the U.S. were killed today as a result of an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) strike in eastern Afghanistan."

The press release did not disclose the exact location of the incident.

Meanwhile, locals in Logar province 60 km south of Afghanistan's capital city Kabul said Wednesday morning, a roadside bomb struck a military vehicle of US forces in Zarghon Shar area.

A student in the area who declined to be named told Xinhua that He witnessed on the spot that two helicopters after the blast came to the area and took several bodies out.

Deen Mohammad Darwish, spokesman for Logar's provincial administration, in talks with Xinhua confirmed the incident but avoided providing details.

The ISAF failed to give any detail on the attack.

Casualties of the NATO-led troops has been on rise since the beginning of this year as so far this month over a dozen soldiers of the US and the allied nations have been killed in Afghanistan.
