29 killed in bus plunge

At least 29 people were killed and seven injured yesterday when a bus veered off a bridge and plunged into a dry river bed in northern India, officials said.

“The bodies of 29 passengers have been recovered” from the accident site, senior police official Santosh Kumar Singh told AFP.

Police said the bus was traveling between the desert state of Rajasthan to central Madhya Pradesh state when it plunged off the bridge in Morena, 350 kilometers from capital city Bhopal. It was not immediately known how many people were aboard the bus.
