Useless without tech

Russia's part in the purchase of GM's Europe unit Opel will prove a waste of time if no Western technology is gained, German Gref, the head of deal participant Sberbank, was quoted as saying Saturday.

"The point of our participation in the deal is for the import of technology. If this doesn't happen, then we wasted our time,"Gref was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying at an economic forum in Sochi.

US job picture to worsen

The US jobs situation could worsen slightly over the coming few months, US President Barack Obama said on Sunday.

"The jobs picture is not going to improve considerably and it could even get a little bit worse over the next couple of months,"Obama said, adding that job creation, largely offset by a rising population, could only be expected until some time next year.
