UN's 30 years in China
The UN celebrated the 30th Anniversary of its presence in China Monday at the Great Wall Sheraton Hotel in Beijing.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Guangya expressed on behalf of the Chinese government his sincere appreciation to the UN.
During his speech, former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan acknowledged China's participation in the UN activities as "wide and deep."
He also emphasized the importance of the establishment of security, development and respect for human rights in China.
